If you or someone you care about has been disabled by an accident, physical injury or disease, the Rehabilitation Center at Attleboro can help. Our comprehensive programs combined with our state-of-the-art equipment and a full-time staff of experienced therapists guide residents through physical, occupational and speech therapy. We also provide restorative care and therapeutic recreation. We recognize that the resident and family are the core of the treatment team and involve them in establishing goals to achieve maximum independence. We also have two psychiatrists on staff to provide additional clinical support and medical insight to residents receiving rehabilitative services.
- Speech Therapy – Our speech pathologist provides specialized services that enhance an individual’s ability to communicate or swallow safely. She is trained in the areas of speech, language, cognition and swallowing to help restore function to individual’s affected by a stroke, brain damage, dementia, oral cancer, Parkinson’s Disease and other debilitating diseases. Attleboro Nursing and Rehab Center now has a speech pathologist certified in DPNS (Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation and FMEP (Facial Muscle Exercise Program). DPNS is a systematized therapeutic program that restores the pharyngeal reflexes for efficient swallow function. FMEP involves estim to facial muscles for improved oral motor function.
- Occupational Therapy – the goal of occupational therapy is to rebuild and restore the skills of daily life in order to maximize independence with daily routines and self-care activities. Our residents are provided with individually designed treatment programs of exercise and activity to increase coordination and strengthen arms, hands and fingers, improve sensation, cognitive and perceptual skills and physical endurance. The focus of occupational therapy is on everyday functional skills – eating, dressing, bathing, hygiene and household management. Residents are trained to use specialized adaptive equipment to facilitate dressing, bathing and feeding.
- Physical Therapy – the goal of physical therapy is to return the resident to optimal functioning and maximal mobility. Treatment programs are tailored to meet the individual needs of each resident. Programs include exercises to increase muscle strength and improve joint range of motion. Gait training and ambulation are taught using walkers, canes, artificial limbs and braces. Therapeutic modes such as whirlpool, ultrasound, estim, paraffin and heat are used to reduce pain, enhance healing and improve motion. The team members all work toward the individual goals of each resident, to assist them in reaching maximum strength and self-reliance.
- Outpatient Services – our rehabilitation services are also offered on an outpatient basis. Outpatient services are appropriate for those individuals who require follow up after an inpatient rehabilitation program. With a physician referral, individuals can be seen for any of the rehabilitative therapies. Individuals referred for outpatient rehabilitation receive a thorough evaluation. The results of the evaluation and the goals after recovery are used to develop an individualized treatment plan. Progress is reviewed and the treatment plan updated on at least a monthly basis. The individual’s physician certifies all goals and treatment plans. We accept Medicare B insurance for outpatient therapy services. Pre-authorization is needed for managed care insurance.

Hospice Care
We believe that life is precious at all stages and our residents deserve to be treated with dignity. At Attleboro we provide end of life treatments that support our residents’ personal, spiritual and emotional choices. We also honor and validate the feelings of the residents’ loved ones, educate and assist them through their challenging times. Attleboro Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has worked diligently over the past few years in selecting hospice companies to provide quality care to the residents at our facility. We have succeeded in choosing six companies that continually exceed our high standards and expectations.
Sub Acute Level of Care
Attleboro has a small unit that qualifies for Subacute Level of Care. This is a level of care occasionally assigned by a resident’s insurance company for the resident with highly clinical complex needs. Our professional staff is fully prepared to handle the needs of any Subacute resident admitted. Our staff are reviewed annually for clinical competencies and monitored regularly with ongoing education to assure their skills meet or exceed our expectations.
Alzheimer’s/Dementia
Our dedicated staff of caring professions recognizes the issues that families must address when dealing with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Our Alzheimer’s/dementia community offers the finest care for memory-impaired adults, emphasizing gentleness and compassion, and focusing on abilities – not disabilities. Our community is a secured, self-contained, homelike environment that offers 24-hour therapeutic care; family support groups; and meals to accommodate special needs. Residents relax with the soothing sounds of nature in our serenity lounge and are stimulated with special programming by caring professionals.
